Startups and smaller companies normally don’t have the capacity to think about Employer Branding.
Whilst Employer Branding or Marketing may not be top of mind as they focus on creating the best products/ services, the talent you bring in at the early stages arguably makes the biggest difference in your company's future.
It is specifically in the early stages of a business, that your hires NEED to be aligned. It’s really a matter of ship or sink - they don't have to be 100% you, but they have to be somewhat comfortable with leadership style, organizational values, your vision.
Who else is going to accelerate growth, optimize processes, and shape culture in a more significant, "concentrated" way?
The way forward is really for organizations to start intentionally thinking about employer brand from the get go.

Don't wait til you're ramping up hiring efforts til you realize that the people coming to you are misaligned passive candidates. Paint a clear picture of your employee experience so people feel energized to show up and give you their best selves!
